Crop rotation--thinking of doing something different??

I'd say 26K is too high on poorer ground, but 12K might be too low.

Maybe you should do a population trial on one of these farms, and find out what is the most profitable population to use on these poorer farms. 

Then, combine this strategy with 2-3 years of beans followed by a year of corn.

I will say that I would be nervous about continuous beans.  I would be concerned about building up a disease problem.  I would prefer to have a grass crop in there breaking up the rotation, to break up the disease cycle.  You might find someone who does continuous beans and make it work.  But I would be nervous about a disease issue.
