Monticello IL | I would look at trying some cover crops to help break up the corn on corn yield drag. there was a post on here a few weeks ago about someone who broadcast crimson clover into standing corn. I think we are going to try that next summer, but with the idea of making a haylage crop the following year. On the soybeans you could look at doing a wheat crop either on the cheap or get a consultant and try for better yields. Around here the consultants are 7 dollars an acre. I am sure there would be a cover crop to try also. My thought is that when you slip in a cover crop or wheat crop it takes away from the yield drag that could occur in a single crop being grown year after year. | |
