Subject: Am I the only one who fills my forward contracts if the market goes up?

Was talking to a large to me farmer today about my plans for thanksgiving week. Said I was trying to get some new crop corn out of the bin to fill a corn contract from last spring. He said why do that when you could haul it cash for .50 over basis someplace else and default on that contract or roll it to next year. No since selling 8 dollar corn for 5.75. How do most end users deal with this? I at least try to deliver what I can. What if it went the other way and the buyer called and said no thanks we are going to buy out corn for 3 bucks instead of your 5.75 contract. I must be missing something the big boys do.
