Subject: strip till in standing stalks?

SE Colorado

First time we will be coc strip tilled. My question is should I run a vt tool ahead of the gladiator? Fully irrigated but not a very good well. 120 bu stalks hoping for 200 in a normal year. Any pros or cons of either?
