I think a good part of yield drag on COC is about antagonism from the previous years crop. The antagonism starts with the allelopathy of old residue in the soil. I think incorporating the residue is the beginning of the yield limiting effects. Much like drawing your drinking water from your septic tank.

Now there will be a need for more early nitrate N to still rival yields from following soybeans. I have seen this happen in my strip till.
