Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS | I don't know if this is still true or not, but some years ago it was. If an out-of-state driver gets a speeding ticket in Ohio and pays the ticket within 30 days Ohio does not report it to the driver's home state. Thus, it does not go on the driver's record and never gets reported to his insurance company. Of course, the last speeding ticket I got in Ohio was in 1997, so they may have changed their policy since then. Getting caught in a revenue generating speed trap still rubs me the wrong way and if I had the time and money I would fight it tooth and nail. The northern section of the I-271 bypass around Cleveland, OH is especially notorious for this sort of thing. I have the greatest respect for law enforcement officers who do their job honestly with courage and common sense, but I have nothing but disdain for those who do otherwise. |
