Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit!
I raised heifer for the last 10 years, its the worst of both worlds, you never have a cow heard or genetic to be proud of or any long term equity building , but you have plenty of feed in them in order to get them fat enough to bring top dollars as a bred heifer and your kinda on a timeline for selling, like a feedlot would be, you can either sell them short/medium bred or calved out, but its kinda hard to move a set of heifers when they are in the middle of calving, nobody wants to mess with them, and if you put the work into calving them out, you might as well become a cow farmer. . If your going to raise a good set of heifers talk to your banker NOW about keeping most of them in a year.
