Colby, KS | I have some 9mm that are on their 8th load. They get pretty dinged up past 3 or 4. But if you keep them clean, 9mm will last longer than you want to keep them.
The 25-06 would be good for 5-6 good loads if trimmed. Not good for more than 2 if reloaded too hot. In my experience, the x-06 family seems to enlarge the primer pockets if loaded with faster powders. I've always had to lean to the low end of the spectrum to get good brass life.
You should reload....you'd pay for the reloading equipment in about 250 rounds of 25-06. For a lot of people, reloading is more fun than shooting!
Brass is always worth saving. It's metal. And everything metal is getting more expensive to obtain and more expensive to ship.
My only tip on buying ammo with giving thought to the brass is to not buy any of the nickel-plated cases. They are great for the first load, but the nickel flakes off with repeated reloading operations.
