In my opinion - get a Dodge 2500 with a diesel. Very good mileage, and at 30k miles a year I would say its going to be the cheapest to own over its life. Also you've then got the ability to easily haul GN and bumper trailers.
I own one dodge mega cab, a ford (older 7.3) and a half ton gmc (08 Denali). The dodge is easily my best workhorse.
