I have for a couple years.   Just made up my mind that if I couldn't pay for it we don't buy it.  Told the wife there may be weeks we don't eat, but it's never come to that.  Got fed up working for the banks and finance companies.  Once you start the cash only policy, it's easy to stick with it.   Trick is bank roll enough to start it.   Just don't buy any toys til you have the money and keep plenty around for operating.

Now I will confess to a couple exceptions.   A few things get put on the credit card and paid every month, such as on line purchases.   No way around that, and I do have a monthly account for some things at the local coop.   Don't buy much there any more and when I did, most was prepay, but a few small things got charged til the end of the month, just easier that way.

The guys who claim it's better to borrow are going to be the first to scream when things turn sour.   (some of us are old enough to remember the early 80's)
