Don't you love them old time hardware stores with the old guys that know stuff ?
When on the road I like stopping at places like that . Clerks that know where stuff is and can read your mind . :-)
Yes. I have to admit smart phones have helped a bunch, in that I can take a picture of something and send it to someone so they can have a picture to compare at the store. But it is really nice to be able to send my wife to the hardware store without any clear idea of what I need, and get the right pieces, every time. Very helpful to us amateur plumber/electrician/mechanic/painter/carpenters.
It has to be expensive, but the inventory they maintain sometimes amazes me. Lot of times they have things even the big box stores don't have in stock. Probably comes from years and years of being in the business, but it sure seems like they know what to carry.
