Subject: RE: Hydroponics

Southeastern Kansas
I know quite a bit about greenhouses as I have been a whosale grower since 1980. I started out looking seriously at hydroponics but was always scared away because of the problems associated with root health and diseases. I would venture a guess that since it has never attained popularity with the general growers that there must be problems. From several years of experience you get what you pay for in this business so you might take that with a grain of salt when purchaseing growing systems. Personally if you are going to teach students how to survive in this industry I would certainly be hesitant to proceed with a hydroponic set up. Way too much involved in disease control for the beginner. Also you probably will be useing taxpayer money to fund this thing, Give that some serious thought as you venture into never never land not knowing really what you are doing. However perhaps you are experienced in the business and if so I say go after it.
