you might as well drain the oil, change the pto seal and clean the sump screen at the same time. now would be a good time to put in new oil.

the chatter could be from the trans pump getting a little weak, or you could have a high pressure leak somewhere, or the main pump could be having some issues. once quick check is there is a plug above the pto and below the right hand outlet. take that plug out while tractor is running and see if there is oil spraying around or coming down from the top.

the pressure gauge we put a john deere tip right onto the gauge with no hose, then you can plug it into each side of the scv to test leak up, leak down and main system pressure.

you can get an electric destroke solenoid from an 8850 tractor, the point of de-stroking is for starting aid. there is no need to destroke a running tractor manually since the pump destrokes itself.
