Subject: Need help on adjusting JD110 drive belts

Springfield, MN
I have been working on restoring a 1967 JD110 garden tractor. The serial number is in the 67000 range. I had taken everything apart to clean, restore and repaint. After it was put back together I replaced the belts and have been having the belts slip when the variable speed lever is in the middle range. I then replaced the variable speed sheave and shaft so all the moving parts are good. I still have the same problem. So can anyone tell me what I am missing? I have it set up like the manual says.
