Thurston County, NE | I hear you, I got 10,000 bushels left to deliver to Cargill at Blair,NE and will be extremely closer than I could have ever imagined. So far, all the grain delivered this fall didn't have aflatoxin. a little concerned on the last bin. Didn't have to use 60% of my storage and I was 85% corn this year, from 50-50. Went from trying to plan where to put it all and what local elevator to use for the excess, to not needing 2 guys for harvest. Who would have thought with 195 bushel average in 2011 to 75 bushel average in 2012. Selling 70 bu/ac as the price rose and last sale at $7.75 turned me into a nervous nellie as harvest progressed. Yes , I had crop insurance and no irrigation. When you are in an area of aflatoxin concerns and sales to an elevator that has a limit of 10 ppm, one tends to fold his hands a few times. | |
