North central North Dakota | I have a 635F and 9870 combine. Was told once to remove the flighting extensions and add more fingers to allow crop to not be pushed into the center of feederhouse and allow for more even feeding into feederhouse. Even though it is considered a narrow body combine since the rotor "can" take it as a narrow stream of crop, letting the crop come into the feed accelerator at full width will help eliminate any feed accelerator plugging and also extend life of feeder chain. I can see that adding fingers would help when doing canola also since it is such a bushy crop and has a hard time getting pushed under the auger and into the feederhouse. Any thoughts?
