| I have an autistic 8 year old son and am not surprised by your description of their behavior. Sometimes autistic children respond to pictures showing them what is expected of them. You may want to google the T.E.A.C.H. system. They also respond to schedules sometimes, as in the parents informing them before hand what they need to be doing during that time every week. I know what your up against and them not being your children makes things all the more difficult. I do applaud you for realizing the parents need a break, raising an autistic child is tough, I couldn't imagine raising 2. | |
