You shouldn't hurt the electronics, but there is always a very small chance something could happen. Usually there are fuses to protect against power surges and shorting to ground. You could also pull the fuse if it is a little easier to get to or unplug the back of the console. I would say 99 times out of 100 a jump start wound hurt anything. However, welding has been known damage electronics.
