I did remember a "cure" for the beaver situation. Several years ago I had a lot of beavers. When I say a lot it was probably several hundred.
They cleaned up at least 10 acres of corn. The ground was so packed from their travels it stopped the chisel plow tractor in its tracks.
Any way they made the mistake of backing the water up over the road. The county got involved and asked if they could come on my property to dig them out. It was 20 below 0 when they came in and dug ALL the dams out in 1/2 mile. Evidently beavers don't fair well in 20 below 0 temps with 2 ft of snow. Even 15 years later we only have a modest population of probably 10 or so! We didn't see any for probably 10 years.
I don't know if the story got out about mass deaths or if beavers just stay away from that many dead ones!
