| make sure all seed/seed treatment dust is cleaned out of meters. store in a dry place where mice will keep away. I've put ours in the large Rubbermaid containers before, have also heard of people using old fridges to keep the mice out. I usually have them checked at least every other year on a stand. I always move the meters by hand before installing on the planter to check belts and make sure nothing is in a bind. On the bean meters it is a good idea to pull the seed discs after the planting season to avoid flattening brushes. Also clean fines and splits out of the brushes. I've used used air before but have read on here not to so maybe a shop vac would be gentler on them. Never hurts to take seed plates and brushes into dealer to check worn parts verse new. Don't worry about freezing anything as long as your meters are stored in a dry, rodent free place. Good luck, looks like you have a good planter. | |
