Big 3 packers here have orchestrated a "round robin" of dark lights at 1 plant per week ( especially at 3 midwest locations ). how it works is 1 company darks a plant for 1 week, the next week another does, week 3 the last. ( different co runs w a dark plant every 3rd week ). it's not tough to figure they're trying to force tradit fats lower while at the same time beef has gone higher ( compostie boxed ).
