Subject: 100 years of post holes

Today I was digging a post hole with an old hand auger that has been around here forever...

During a break, I noticed the castings:

"Osmundson Spade Company, Perry, Iowa"

and on the reverse side:

"Pat. Pend. March 12, 1906"

I felt a little guilty, making something 100 years old work that hard! Whether it's actually 100, or more likely 50 years old, it's been a good tool.
