Subject: Re: bio diesel

Germany
I´ve tried 100% in my older Fendt tractors. I found they smoked much more when cool (at summer outside temps) and even produced a condensated black liquid in the exhaust when running idle for a while. I took this as a warning sign for oil thinning, polymerization and piston ring seizing. I went to 50% and found the engines were running fine. I went back to Diesel over winter, but will use 50% in the new tillage season again.
I replaced only 1 fuel filter, and the fuel lines on one tractor (were leaking slightly before using bio, bio dissolved the outer shell of the hoses, the interior layer was still OK)
Best regards, Dietrich

PS Fendt and others allow 100% Bio for they later models here in europe.
The "gasboy" fuel pump manufacturer was kind enough to answer my email request wether my pump was biodiesel safe in 1 day. I wished the european companies had a service that good!
