NW Washington | The 100% is apt to gel up at much higher temperature than mixtures. Also the pure stuff is hard on rubber and plastic parts like seals and rubber fuel lines. Viton seals and tubing is not affected by the biodiesel. But otherwise, you should have no problems, provided that the fuel is clean and made to the latest ASTM standards. I think there is some concern about biodiesel in some of the new high pressure electronic injections system because they are intolerant of any dirt or water. Biodiesel tends to pick up water because it is made with a chemical process that uses alcohol and there is sometimes a little alcohol still in solution. Deere and CIH limit biodiesel to 5% for new stuff under warranty and I suspect other manufacturers do the same. | |
