Subject: RE: Potassium Sulfate

Little River, TX

Research in Texas suggest that some of the benefit of Murate of Potash, 0-0-60 to 0-0-58, is the positive response of the crop to the chloride.

Locally it does not appear that the potassium sulfate is available.
Personally I use some K-Mag 0-0-22K-11Mg-22S.

Reasons:
One is for the sulfur.
Another other is it is not recommended to apply more than 500 lbs/A of MOP.
The soils here also respond to the magnesium.

On one occasion I applied 500 lbs MOP & 1500 lbs K-Mag. I have observed that there crop response is just as good with just 500 lbs of K-Mag in the blend.

This is here, your mileage may be different.
