| If you look at the prices on used trailers I think the new aluminum is probably going to be the best way to go long term because they hold their value so well and you won't have another rusted out trailer in 10 years. We've got a 7x16' Hillsboro trailer that started out as a cheap trailer but by the time it got new tires, brakes, wiring and lights it's not such a cheap trailer in within 5 years the rust on it will be bad enough that it won't be worth rebuilding. For moving cattle around the farm our trailer works nice because there's now worrying about damaging it and we've been paying $100 to have our's hauled to auction with a 30' trailer and it's about 45 miles each way which is as cheap as I can haul them.
