I may have to moldboard plow my notill trees but I am trying not to. Plowing destroys my tilth and my soil life and erosion is my main threat until I get something green enough to hold the soil.

Sounds like time left those fields that way and you kept it from washing.

There is nothing to turn black here, it is all brown to orange.
