If you are using markers on your drills or planters, I doubt that there are any savings with the autosteer. they don't do any better job than an average driver with markers. However, if you don't have markers, on a 50' drill, assuming you are always lapping over 1-2 feet, then you are looking at 2-4% savings. It seems to me that the real advantage is the reduced operator fatigue and the opportunity to keep a closer eye on monitors, equipment operation, and just plain relaxing which results in longer days if one is so inclined. It's no problem to eat lunch while operating and still maintain accurate rows and not be searching the lunch box and trying to steer at the same time. Of course if you can save the price of a set of markers, you have almost justified the cost of some of the more inexpensive guidance systems out there. Me, it was money wll spent and I am thankful to have it!
