Subject: 8410 front axle extensions

I am looking to extend an 8410 front axle from 2m (80inch) wheel centres to 3m (120inch). I have heard that if you use the cotton reel type hub extensions you can pretty much count on doing the king pin bearings at least once a year. Extending the axle housings is a lot more expensive but would obviously be a lot softer on the rest of the axle assembly. Has any one tried this type of extension? Also does any one know of any engineering places specialising in this type of work. Here in Australia the move to controlled traffic is gaining momentum and there are a lot of people switching to 3m centres on tractors to match the harvesting wheel tracks. There is such a back log of orders at the engineering place specialising in this work that it would be 3 months before I could get my machone looked at.
