You are right. Feed the soybean stubble first and supplement the cows to help them along. They will never eat it putting out different kinds of hay. Save the better hay for when they start getting closer to calving and need it worse. When you start feeding the better hay they should not need the supplementing and when going to the better hay then should really clean it up well. Cows are like little kids. You ever give them something better it is hard to go backwards. I know some adults that have a problem with that too.
