Subject: RE: Correct Wiring for an AgLeader 3000

I make a wiring harness for use with Raven flowmeters and the PF3000 or Advantage.

These are the Pin assignments in the 25 Pin connector:

+12 Volts IN - Pin #13
Ground IN - Pin #25

Flow Signal - Pin #6
Flow Ground - Pin #11
+12 Volts out to Flowmeter - Pin #12
+5 Volts out to Flowmeter - Pin 11

In the case of the Raven flowmeters which operate on +5V, I use Pin #11 for Flowmeter Power. In other cases 12 Volts is needed so Pin #12 would be used.

Some Micro Trak Flowmeters need external power +12V, other older styles only use a reed switch style with only two wires so power is not needed to the sensor itself. In many styles (especially the two wire models) a pull up resistor is needed to return the signal line to logic HIGH.

If the parent monitor is still present this pullup resistor is not needed, however if the Ag Leader is the only monitoring device present a pull up resistor is often needed. Generally a 10K ohm resistor between 12 volts and the signal line works fine.
