Subject: pastureing wheat

King City, Mo
Any one have tips on pastureing wheat this fall?

I am going to broad cast some bin run wheat w/ my fert cart on 2 bean fields next to my cows. (plans anyways)

Pasture it all winter long, or on/off ect on how i can maximize feed from it.

Is there anything to look out for that can make the cattle sick? we pastured a wheat field one summer that had volenteer wheat come up in it, and the cows loved it. did really good, hardly spent any time i the pasture, always in that part of the field when we'd drive bye.

I would drill it like my other wheat but don't want to go the expense of cleaning it and handling the bags.

It would also be good for the ground to get some manure on it, but the cows have to have stuff to eat to produce manure.............

Currently have some grass but started feeding straw plus molasses to them thursday.......
