North Central Illinois
Ethanol exports in 2011 soared mainly due to the poor sugar crop in Brazil and resulting high sugar prices. Exports for 2012 are projected to be about half of 2011 at just under 900 million gallons. Canada is our biggest export customer this year and I might add UAE isn't even mentioned so it would appear if they actually import any of our ethanol it is such a paltry amount that it isn't even worth mentioning. So that argument doesn't work.

My point about the mandate and subsidy was that if both were gone and ethanol were chugging away at the same pace as with the mandate and subsidy you still wouldn't be happy because corn would still be high priced and you would be crying about food vs fuel. You might laugh but it could happen someday.
