north central Oklahoma | Me thinks he speaks the truth. 4" for homes, car driveways, and even garages, but I wouldn't go less than 6" for a shop. Mebee 4" on sides where only tools and work areas are. Dad built one in '76, and went 6" everywhere and did not scrimp on steel, but upped it to 8" in entrance of 24' door with doubled steel for loaded tandem running in to escape rains and whatever other reasons he may have had to drive a loaded tandem into shed. Dad's B.I.L. built one and decided to go 10" and no steel, he thought he was a hot shot. His shed floor has 2" cracks in places, lesser crackes everywhere, it's a total trainwreck. Long story short, do not scrimp on steel, it is as important if not more than the thickness of concrete.
