Subject: RE: Tracks vs. rear wheel assist

Northeast Louisiana
I wouldn't own a combine without RWD. Cotton picker either, for that matter.
Depends on your ground and just how wet it is. I cut rice this year in standing water and even with 18.4 x 30's Rice tires on the back of my 2388, the back axle was pushing mud in places, ruts almost waist deep in areas. We did fine with 35.5 x 32 Rice and Cane up front and the RWD, but tracks up front would have bogged less. I've seen folks break rear axles out of combines trying to go through mud that deep with tracks and no RWD.
So if it were me, I'd go RWD first, then tracks. Or both if you can do it.
