Wouldn't think twice about mileage if its 60acres or better, plan ahead. Dad and i went on a whim last year and got it done. This year we planned out ahead of time what was the last field we'd do up north before heading south, where we would go after that, how much time we'd spend in the field and when to move etc.

farm 39miles away, second year down that way and blew a tire this year. Luckily tire shop in town was nice enough to call people for us and finally found a 16x9SL for the planter 15miles east.

We stick to state highways, wider and much easier to navigate from. Went down around 5am and try to leave after 7pm or so when the traffic dies down. Think we got back around 2-3am or so since finding a new tire took quite a bit of time, still got er wrapped up in a day and on to the next. The key with longer travel distances is to still "knock" down fields, keep a steady pace but don't be afraid to increase operator hours when needed, guys are good to run more than just the elevator hours of 7am-9pm.

Would be nice to get some fields scattered along the way to this field, but would prefer to pickup more acres around this farm to get a larger chunk for one stop without constantly removing heads/etc.
