We use the large wire concave but our yields rarely get really high and we usually wait till the corn gets under 18%. We run a 9760 alongside a 9610 and if they are both set right you can't tell much difference in the sample - they will both crack a little corn if you try to get every kernel off the cob. We usually try to get it to the point where during a kill stall we might find a few kernals left on one out of a hundred cobs. Seems like if we try to get every last kernel off, with either machine we will be cracking a lot. I think the large wire are a lot more aggressive than the round bar but then I have never ran the round bar. We were thinking of getting the front section round bar and putting it in next year to reduce the cracking. Maybe it wouldn't help. Some years and some varieties seem to be worse than others. Some hybreds seem to have real soft kernels. John
