Subject: RE: Is the chopper my problem on the 2577?

North East Kansas
Since it rained we took the extra set of straight bars out of the rotor. We now only have a total of 4 separator bars installed. We didn't feel like this made much of a difference. We haven't tried advancing the vanes yet. Can this make a huge power difference? We are running the rotor at 580 and the concave at 2.7 to 3.5. The concave didn't seem to help much at 2.7 except it threshed the crop better. I just reread Brian Sepa's post in an earlier topic and he said that running 1 on the concave isn't too little. Do I need to go down way further than 2.7 to notice the difference in a tighter concave? Also, our engine rpm is running at 2430 at no load, and we stop pushing the machine after the engine rpm's have dropped below 2350 because it sounds very close to slugging the machine, but we are not for sure because we haven't slugged it yet. Oh yeah, and the soybeans we are combining are big and bulky, but they aren't green stems. Also, farmertony, do they make a chip for the 2577?
