Subject: Interesting topic, critter control

Have been following the different discussions about wildlife damage and possible control measures. It seems the less tillage we do and the better weed control we have, the worse the wildlife damage becomes(or we notice it more).

My biggest problem is 13 lined ground squirrels. Not only is it a little embarrassing (blank spots in the field) but it has become a costly problem (extreme crop loss). I have attempted the conventional methods: shooting, trapping, poisoning, exploding, feeding, ect. The population is still increasing.

This is a whole field issue so now I am in need of whole field solution.

I find the Garlic oil topic interesting. There was also a suggestion about pepper oil (capsaicin). Where do you find these items in bulk and what do they cost per acre? How bad is the odor for people to be around? How long does it stay effective?

Thanks,
