Driftless SW Wisconsin

Jason Hinson - 7/1/2012 12:50 Will you have multiple sensors per planter for a sectional control or multiple sensors for an averaged down pressure?

Could be any of the above depends on what you need for your conditions and operation.

I don't like averages though. On a 36 row 30" JD DB90 90 ft wide planter one row could be in a grain cart tire track and another row in a mud hole (BTDT)...averages out to "normal" but one row has expensive seed on top of the ground and the other row is plugged with mud.

Stopping a 90ft planter to dig out mud, or make adjustments, costs you about 60 acres an hour in lost planting. Stopping a 60ft planter costs you about 40 acres per hour.

We are working on using this technology to measure every row if you wish.  For now, one or two sensors per planter is a big step forward.
