Redfield, SD | Yes have encountered the same problem multiple times with omnistar signals better than a diff of 2. The problem lies with John Deere's software. It removes the correction signal from 3rd party receivers if that correction is better than WAAS. Do you lose mapping - or rather does it say "No Differential Mapping Inaccurate"? If you lose mapping altogether, then your Deere dealer will have to fix the problem by getting John Deere AMS to write new software. If you get the message "No Differential Mapping Inaccurate" your maps may be several feet off but I wouldn't worry about that. This is a known issue with 3rd party receivers and has been known for almost 2 years. Make sure you have the following NMEA strings on GGA, GSA, RMC the baud rate should be 4800. If you go to Info, Yield mapping, Page 2 can you find the GPS receiver data? If you can it should show everything you are receiving Lat, Lon, Alt, #of satellites, PDOP, etc.
Hope this helps and more importantly I hope someone from John Deere reads this and takes the corrective action so we no longer have this issue when we follow their directions for connecting 3rd party receivers. | |
