Plant shorter corn. Seriously. A good seedsman will know which of his hybrids tend towards the shorter side. I've got one or two in my lineup that tend to be short, but still can yield with the best of them (DeKalb 60-18 for one. And a new Garst number that I have only seen in plots this year).

Wouldn't know what to tell you to plant in Washington, though. A bit far away from here. :)
