Subject: RE: milo stalks

I would sell buy the ton but it isn't real profitable.  I have baled and fed my own milo stalks and would not pay over $45/ton for it.  When I swathed it, I strip swathed leaving equal strips between cut area.  Swathing was east/west regardless of field length direction.  This really helped catch snow and retain some crop material.  Do not store the bales end to end as the stock retains a large amount of moisture and they will heat!  24 degrees out and I had steam coming off some bales on a cloudy day.
