Subject: RE: strip till pics

Rivers, MB
I realize this is a tangent to your comments on the article. I'm fascinated by the pictures of the strip till in corn residue. I'm from Manitoba where we grow mostly wheat, canola, peas, flax. Would that strip-till idea work in stripper header wheat stubble. We have 2 guys in our area experimenting with stripper headers but the seeding into the stubble is always the issue. They've tried every disc drill known to man and are not finding anything that works well enough in different conditions. Would the strip till idea work if you were seeding on 12" spacing. One concern would be that in wet conditions, the opener with the seed boot would be running in very wet, freshly turned soil.
Any experience with this. I appreciate hearing your ideas on other posts. Curious what you think of this idea. Or any one else for that matter that may have tried this.
