I too was disappointed in the accuracy of that article. Those #'s come from a several year old study that is way out of date with todays yeilds, and amount of ethanol per bushel from years ago.

The study I saw included the cost of fuel to build and transport farm machinery, grain bins, everything under the sun. As if that oil just flowed out of the ground with no exploration costs or anything.

Really turned me off to National Geographic and makes me doubt a lot of other things I read there....like global warming hype...but that is a topic for another day. :)
