Northeast Louisiana
Sure, that's been the trend since the 80's. But some of the gins not running in our area were pretty big gins. The town of Mer Rouge, LA is in what has traditionally been a big cotton growing area. Neither gin in Mer Rouge is running this year, and it's questionable whether they'll be able to come back next year. The cotton warehouses in Mer Rouge have corn in about 3/4 or so of their warehouses.
Don't get me wrong, other gins can and will pick up that business if cotton comes back strong, but there will be less competition, and the ginning season will be longer.
