I don't recall the exact futures price when I signed up but you would think he would have used the LDP as downside protection. I simply was diversifing some harvest bushels that needed to be delivered to Cargill anyway. I thought Brock was a good choice at the time.
I do use a local advisory service which allows me to be very involved in the marketing and lets me be in charge. Cost is $4 per acre plus commision fees on positions. They have had ups and downs like most. There ability to pool bushels has returned extra pennies here and there. They have been good about finding new markets within reason above what the locals are bidding. They realize that if they don't perform for the customer, the customer can walk away. I feel like they do care as they have connections to our area.
