Is there a "right" way to have the brace pipe, or divider? Dad is still a pipe user that goes in the middle of both wooden posts. I'm the kind of guy that thinks it should be 3/4 up the post, with it straight across. J.M.O.

I don't know if there is a "right" way or not, a lot of ways seem to work. There is no strength though without triangulation either in the brace or the brace wire and the more triangulation the better. With the brace straight across there's more load on the brace wire and with the brace angled there's more load on the brace than the wire. I have had a couple of angled braces bend with a snow load, a pipe might be better in that situation.
