NW Washington
That tiller engine's second shaft is actually the camshaft, and it drives the wheels, so it is vital. When you back up the drive belt loops over the pulley on the crankshaft, that is why it backs up faster than it goes forward. I had one of those dudes once, and parts are just about impossible to find for the tiller. One of the big BS dealers should be able to come up with a replacement engine and I suspect that the rest of the engine is similar to other 5hp BS engines. http://www.jackssmallengines.com/ is one small engine place to try and you can find others by doing a google search. Good luck. If all else fails check out http://www.bcsamerica.com/
