Subject: RE: Cold , hard truths in grain storage

Lapel, In
Sounded like I offended vi, plowboy. I aplogize if he was offended, but when grain is cooled down or frozen, a little sun on the south side of the bin is not going to penetrate the grain very deep and once the sun goes down, the cold grain temperature will quickly absorb any warmth in the small area that was warmed up.Any gain in temperature would be almost nill. The grain becomes like a block of ice and ice melts very slowly from the outside only.It would take a very, very long time before the sun could materially affect the grain temperature so long as there is no chimney effect from not having the fan sealed.
